about World Miss Univesity Contest

The World Miss University Contest was established in 1986 under the International Association of University Presidents, the United Nations-affiliated NGO to commemorate the United Nations-designated Year of Peace. The contest, a celebration of beauty and intellect, strives to spread the message of love and peace throughout the world by annually appointing a public service delegation of outstanding female university students from all around the world.

The World Miss University Contest aims to create an opportunity for humankind to reflect upon world peace and to promote global unity. By serving the public in areas that face hardships (such as pollution, starvation, disease, territorial, ethnic and ideological conflicts), the World Miss University Peace Emissaries work to raise awareness of world peace and to strengthen its foundation. In 1993, the UN under Secretary-General, Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, conferred the status of "International Peace Emissaries" to all delegates’ participants on behalf of the UN Secretary-General. The World Miss University Contest is among the four most prominent international beauty pageants in scale, along with Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss World. Among these, World Miss University, based in Korea, is the sole pageant dedicated in promoting world peace and importance of international relationships.
